2009 was a huge year for us at BloorCondos.com as it was the year we launched our lifestyle/real estate blog! We’ve taken a break from writing on the blog over the holidays to rethink the direction of it’s content. We’re excited to feature even more stories and information about the what’s what and who’s who in the Bloor Yorkville area. Check back in the coming weeks as we look at a few new condo pre construction projects launching in 2010. We’ll also be reporting the monthly sales in the real estate market for the area.
For the out of town reader, we’ll also be focusing more on providing updates for the condos currently under construction. Expect tons of pics, videos, and write ups about Crystal Blu, The Uptown, The Four Seasons, The Florian, and One Bedford to name a few!

As last reported in October, Bang & Olufsen set up a temporary shop on Avenue Road after moving from their Bloor St. location. Even at their short term shop, I was blown away by the design and quality of the few products on display. Many of you may have seen them setting up at their new location on the corner of Davenport and Avenue. They wrapped the old “XM” building with promo shots of their products keeping the public guessing to what will become of the inside. Like a kid on Christmas, I couldn’t wait for them to unwrap the new store. I finally got a chance to check out the space, and let me tell you…it was definitely worth the wait!
The new showroom is almost like a gallery in its own right, showcasing the finest in high-end electronics. It is the largest Bang and Olufsen showroom in North America with 4800 sq ft of Johnson Chou Design! The sophisticated Avenue Road furniture compliments the B & O space in a very upscale but modern way. The style and ambiance is one aspect that sets B & O apart from other electronic stores in the area… truth is, the 103 inch plasma TV was all it took to draw me in!

This is the craziest week of the year and London is looking so fabulous. Although I usually avoid Regent and Oxford streets like a plague this time of year as it is shear madness to even attempt to walk … both streets had joined together to host the x’mas lighting ceremony and Colin Firth and Jim Carey were there to light up the streets. It was absolutely beautiful and I love all things glitter. So to no further adieu, here are some lovely images from the evening’s ceremony.

I recently received a letter in the mail from a builder of one of the condominiums I purchased several years ago. Before I opened it I looked at the logo on the outside and in the top corner, it said Crystal Blu. I wondered to myself… is this good news or bad news? (Bazis International is the builder of Crystal Blu and was the same builder scheduled to erect 1Bloor last year)
I opened the letter, and yes of course, great news was inside! It stated they were above the 30th floor and scheduled for occupancy Aug 30, 2010. Several of my clients also purchased units at the Balmuto and Bloor address and I knew they would be receiving the same letter. I decided to drive down and take a look for myself.
On last check it appeared that construction on Crystal Blu has made it to the 34th floor with windows to the 15th floor. My clients who were immediately sold on the project (either because of the 10ft ceilings, location or upgrades that were offered as standard) will be happy to know they have a confirmed move in date and can start making firm plans!
It has been a long 40 months but with the growth and development that has taken place in the area since we purchased, I look forward to moving in and enjoying the Bloor – Yorkville lifestyle. Check back for further updates as the building moves closer to completion.
