This is the craziest week of the year and London is looking so fabulous. Although I usually avoid Regent and Oxford streets like a plague this time of year as it is shear madness to even attempt to walk … both streets had joined together to host the x’mas lighting ceremony and Colin Firth and Jim Carey were there to light up the streets. It was absolutely beautiful and I love all things glitter. So to no further adieu, here are some lovely images from the evening’s ceremony.

The Bloor/Yorkville strip has definitely set the festive mood with the streets lit up, and the stores packed with people! The only ingredient missing is SNOW! We’ve gone all of November without a trace of the white stuff, but it looks like our luck is about to run out. Our guest blogger and favourite interior designer, Nora Voon, is experiencing wetter weather patterns on the other side of the pond (London). Although the temperature of the precipitation is different, the feelings of leaving the winter weather are the same! Escape the snow before it begins with Nora’s review of a much warmer destination:
I hate the weather around this time of year in London. It’s so miserable. You know, it’s true, what people say about London… it really does rain a lot, especially during the months of November, and also from April all the way through to June. The sky is grey, the air is damp and the wind is very cold. Add on top of the fact that the windows aren’t exactly double glazed like North America, we have ourselves some extremely cold feet. This has led to many day dreaming moments of me sipping a nice cocktail and lying under the sun in some exotic destination. So today’s blog is dedicated to destination far away for our northern Hemisphere earthlings who are longing for some color, good food, beautiful landscapes and great hotels with superb interior design. Today I’m going to dedicate the blog about details. Everyone knows that the devil is in the details… so here are just some inspirational images to transform a space.
Transform your hallway with flea market finds and arrange your collection of prints in different sized frames for an instant facelift to your hallway.
Love the arrangement on the coffee table. Buy interesting books about your interests and display them amongst your other collectables and don’t be afraid to add a splash of colour in the background to add a bit of flare.

‘Open your mind and let it smile, like the lotus opens its petals to the heavens. Shed your fear, hate and envy and experience the rejuvenating smile of Happiness.’- That is the motto for Shamballa Jewels and how true it is.
Remember I promised to give Shamballa a shout out separately because they deserve the special attention? Well, here it is. I first heard of Shamballa Jewels when a friend of mine, socialite and all, first introduced me to Danish designer, Mads Kornerup’s world of fine craftsmanship and meticulous detailing. A first glance at his collection, I was hooked. Like the saying, ‘good things come in small packages’ His was no exception, and oh yes, don’t forget the small dent in your bank account.
Shamballa jewels are like white truffles, rare and precious. When you find the right one, you cherish it dearly. It’s pure indulgence. The philosophy behind the jewels is to create pieces that welcome the memory of our infinite love and deep rooted compassion towards ourselves and others. These pieces were fine reproductions influenced by Hindu and North African symbols and forms fused with ancient traditions of Yoga and meditation. Read the rest of this entry »
So I’m sitting in my new flat in London, looking around the room and finding it extremely tired and maybe a bit too serious. I’ve always been designing with a twist and a dash of quirkiness and wit. While I’m sitting here in my office at midnight listening to Jason Mraz’ “lucky” and it dawned on me this is all too uptight. Surely not a good image to be representing Tshuka. I need to do something pronto. SO I went through my box of inspirations… Mostly inspired rooms that I love over the years… and no help there…. Do you know as a designer you find your taste changes constantly… what might seemed like a cool idea 3 months ago can now seem so revolting. With the holiday season approaching, I find that I see my interior with the most critical eye. What room to do first? My studio…. Let’s start there….
Breaking the news to my husband about changing everything in the house is definitely not going to work by casually mentioning it over breakfast. Daria, my business partner, is super organized, meanwhile I’m more of a scatter brain… I need stuff around me to get inspired, some may call me a hoarder and that’s another thing, the key ingredient to getting a fresh new look to your space, you must shed your inner hoarded-ness and LET-Go. Try it… it’s refreshing. Just by doing that, you can transform your room from drab to fab in no time. Read the rest of this entry »
