With the excitement of World Cup only days away, Louis Vuitton managed to capture a bit of the lime light with their new World Cup carrying case!  Launched last week Asnieres, (just outside Paris) the case will feature the Louis Vuitton signature brown background and the famous LV monogram… we think the new case is much more fashionable than the aluminum case previously used by FIFA!

The case is a one of one and made solely to transport the World Cup.  The trophy stands 36.5 centimetres (14.4 inches) tall and is made of 5 kg (11 lb) of 18 carat (75%) solid gold with a base (13 centimetres [5.1 inches] in diameter) and looks verrry comfortable in it’s new home!

With the hustle and bustle of downtown living, it’s hard to find the time to take in the neighbourhood. On Thursday June 3rd, 2010 the monthly art walk will be making it’s rounds through the various Yorkville galleries!  It’s a great opportunity to find that special piece for your Yorkville condo!  The walk will take guests to seven galleries including:

1. Hollander York Gallery
2. Ingram Gallery
3. Kinsman Robinson Galleries
4. Lane Gallery
5. Leonardo Galleries
6. Liss Gallery
7. Odon Wagner Gallery

According to the Yorkville Art Walk website:  The informal, free tour begins by gathering at the Rotunda (lower level) in the Hazelton Lanes Mall, opposite Browns’ Shoe Store. The attendees split into two or three smaller groups which visit selected area galleries during the evening. Each small group is led by a tour guide who is familiar with art appreciation and the local art scene. Some of the galleries may have featured artists present for the tour. A wide range of Contemporary or Historical Canadian and International works of art are available for viewing. At the end of the evening attendees may join the group for coffee at a local area café.

The walk is organized by Artsgroup. Co-ordinator: Marg King If you require further details please call Marg

How time flies! As we approach the mid way point of 2010 a few changes have occurred in the Bloor-Yorkville condo market.  For starters, the month of May saw an increase in listings at Casa Condos (88 Charles St) resulting in 6 solds.  Yorkville as a whole actually saw a decreases in number of sales; 32 as opposed to the 46 in March and 43 in April.  Year over year though (May 2009 vs May 2010) sales are 18% higher!

The most active layout was the 2 bedroom floor plan which saw 12 of the 32 sales.  This has been a common trend through out the year further showing that Yorkville condo purchasers prefer a spacious layout over a smaller one.   The highest sale happened at the luxurious Prince Arthur followed closely by the 2009 PUG award winner: One St. Thomas.

Looking ahead to June, we’re doubtful that sales will pass the 50 sales recorded in 2009.  Increased lending rates and the G20 meeting toward the end of June should put a damper on the amount of activity in the area.  We’ll be following the number closely to see how the market preforms.  We’ll also be doing Pre-Delivery Inspections with clients who purchased at Crystal Blu!  Look for updates on that project in the near future!

Art Of The Barrel

Have you seen the barrels on display in Yorkville this month?  We have!

It’s all part of a fundraiser benefiting the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) and Casey House. Fourth year OCAD students were presented with the task of transforming an ordinary barrel into a contemporary piece of art all in the name of charity! Proceeds for Casey House, raised though Art of the Barrel, directly support the Emerging Artists Collection of Art with Heart.

The barrels were put on display in various Yorkville shops for patrons and the public to see.  The grand finally and auction is happening tonight (May 27th, 2010) at the Toronto Reference Library – The Bram & Bluma Appel Salon
(789 Yonge Street).

Tickets for the event are $75 and can be purchased online!

In our second look at Pears on the Avenue, we’re shifting our attention to the many luxurious amenities the condos will have!

Residents can choose between: the Multi-purpose party room with catering kitchen and wet bar, indoor pool with whirlpool and private cabanas, a gym with separate cardio and weight areas, a yoga studio, men’s and woman’s change rooms with showers and saunas, a Hollywood style screening room, a private board room, a hotel-styled guest suite and a landscaped terrace with open fire pit, seating and sundeck!

Many of the amenites will be spread over the ground floor and upper mezzanine. The party room will have a “club house” feel with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the landscaped terrace! An off white limestone will clad the walls of the pool room, with porcelain tiled floors below. Complementing the pool is a whirlpool set against a wall of backlit onyx. It’s the perfect retreat in the city on those cold winter days!

Send us an email if you’re interested in making Pears on the Avenue your home.
