Today the Number One Bloor website was re-launched, and with it came our first look at the new tower! Designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects, the 67 story luxury condo gives the Yonge and Bloor corner a new curvaceous feel. The first glimpse doesn’t really show much, but just enough to want more… What will the other 3 sides look like? How will the podium work in with the street? Hopefully in the coming weeks, these questions and more will be answered!

2009 was a huge year for us at BloorCondos.com as it was the year we launched our lifestyle/real estate blog! We’ve taken a break from writing on the blog over the holidays to rethink the direction of it’s content. We’re excited to feature even more stories and information about the what’s what and who’s who in the Bloor Yorkville area. Check back in the coming weeks as we look at a few new condo pre construction projects launching in 2010. We’ll also be reporting the monthly sales in the real estate market for the area.
For the out of town reader, we’ll also be focusing more on providing updates for the condos currently under construction. Expect tons of pics, videos, and write ups about Crystal Blu, The Uptown, The Four Seasons, The Florian, and One Bedford to name a few!
We wish you all tons of health, lots of weatlth and a Happy New Year!

This is the craziest week of the year and London is looking so fabulous. Although I usually avoid Regent and Oxford streets like a plague this time of year as it is shear madness to even attempt to walk … both streets had joined together to host the x’mas lighting ceremony and Colin Firth and Jim Carey were there to light up the streets. It was absolutely beautiful and I love all things glitter. So to no further adieu, here are some lovely images from the evening’s ceremony.

The Bloor/Yorkville strip has definitely set the festive mood with the streets lit up, and the stores packed with people! The only ingredient missing is SNOW! We’ve gone all of November without a trace of the white stuff, but it looks like our luck is about to run out. Our guest blogger and favourite interior designer, Nora Voon, is experiencing wetter weather patterns on the other side of the pond (London). Although the temperature of the precipitation is different, the feelings of leaving the winter weather are the same! Escape the snow before it begins with Nora’s review of a much warmer destination:
I hate the weather around this time of year in London. It’s so miserable. You know, it’s true, what people say about London… it really does rain a lot, especially during the months of November, and also from April all the way through to June. The sky is grey, the air is damp and the wind is very cold. Add on top of the fact that the windows aren’t exactly double glazed like North America, we have ourselves some extremely cold feet. This has led to many day dreaming moments of me sipping a nice cocktail and lying under the sun in some exotic destination. So today’s blog is dedicated to destination far away for our northern Hemisphere earthlings who are longing for some color, good food, beautiful landscapes and great hotels with superb interior design. Ted Rogers. You may not know his name, but you more than likely have used his services. Over 40 years ago Edward Samuel “Ted” Rogers, Jr. built and established Rogers as one of the largest media companies in Canada! Mr. Rogers was no stranger to the Bloor and Yonge area, having the Rogers Headquarters set up at Bloor and Jarvis. The Rogers family has made numerous donations to the City over the years. Some of Ted’s most notable business and philanthropistic moves include buying the Toronto Blue Jays and donating over $15 million to Ryerson University.
On Wednesday December 02, 2009 the City gave back to Ted Rogers by renaming a strip of Jarvis at Bloor to “Ted Rogers Way” in his honour. Ted and his relentless ways are an excellent example of Canadian entrepreneurialism at its finest.
